Stephen Hill won the Rhodes College Invitational Saturday morning, finishing the 8k course in 26:06.
Bucs finish 2nd, Lady Bucs 11th
MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Bucs finished second in the Rhodes Invitational Saturday, paced by individual champion Stephen Hill (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS).  The Lady Bucs finished 11th.

Hill ran the 8k course in 26:06, finishing 29 seconds behind unattached runner Josh McAdams, who finished ninth in the preliminary round of the 3000-meter steeplechase in the Beijing Olympics last month and has won the NCAA national championship, Pan American Games, and USA Outdoor national championship.  Since McAdams is a professional, Hill was declared the race champion as the first college runner to finish.

John Waldorf (South Elgin, Ill./St. Edward HS) finished second for the Bucs in 27:09, followed by Nate Spears (Dayton, Ohio/Beavercreek HS), who was 14th in 27:45.  Max Group (Dayton, Ohio/Beavercreek HS) and Rex Hammonds (Memphis, Tenn./Central HS) rounded out the Bucs' scoring, as CBU finished with 62 points, 21 behind team champion Rhodes.

Kelly Summons (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) was the Lady Bucs' first finisher, as she was 52nd in 22:56, followed across the line two seconds later by Rachael Haag (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy)Brittly Butler (Dyersburg, Tenn./Dyersburg HS), Porsha Chillis (Memphis, Tenn./East HS), and Heather Gosnell (Brighton, Tenn./Brighton HS) rounded out the Lady Bucs' scoring.

The CBU cross country teams will be back in action Saturday when they head to Malibu, Calif., for the Pepperdine Invitational.
